The 6th session of the Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (P.J.C.C.) between Iran and Ghana held in November 2017 in Accra

The 6th session of the P.J.C.C. between Iran and Ghana was held on 14-15 November 2017 in Accra, co-chaired by H.E. Hojjati, the Iranian Minister of Agriculture and H.E. Owusu Afriyie Akotothe, the Ghanaian Minister for Food and Agriculture at the presence of H.E. Dr. Maleki, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Ghana. The Iranian Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Deputy Chief of Iranian Red Crescent Society, an Iranian M.P., member of the agricultural parliamentary committee, the Ghanaian Minister of Trade and Industry and a number of different representatives from both countries’ private and public sectors also participated in this two-day meeting. A number of MoUs were signed by the parties in different areas. During the 6th PJCC, there were also the Cement Plant commissioning ceremony, participated by H.E. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana, and opening of a juice company co-funded by the Iranian and Ghanaian private sectors. 

The 5th Iran-Ghana PJCC was held in May 2014 in Tehran.

In a visit paid by H.E. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana, to Tehran to participate in the inauguration ceremony of H.E. Dr. Rouhani, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, 7 MoUs in different fields including production of LPG storages, establishment of a cement factory, mine exploration, establishment of a cocoa paste plant and pharmaceutical products were signed between the two countries.

In a visit paid by H.E. John Dramani Mahama to Tehran in 2016, 3 documents were signed on standard, agricultural and oil cooperation.

Iran and Ghana PJCC was established in 2005 by the Iranian cabinet, according to Article 138 of the Iranian Constitution as proposed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
